Hello my fellow WAFS! Colorado Springs is a hidden gem that is slowly gaining popularity. There is so much to do in such a small radius. Everything & I mean everything is, at a maximum, 35-minute drive. You can go downtown to all the boutiques and restaurants, or you can hike on one of the MANY trails. There is something for everyone here. I have lived in the city; I have lived at the beach & now I can say I have lived in the mountains. The scenery is exceptional & beyond compare! There are 4 bases in the Springs: Peterson and Schriever are both Air Force and Space Force, Air Force Academy, and Fort Carson which is for the Army. There is also a small Navy and Coast Guard presence in the area.

Things to know about Colorado Springs Air Force Base

I have learned a lot moving out here. The one thing that my husband is most proud of is me learning how to snowboard. At first it was hard/scary, but once I got the hang of it it was something we can do together. I have always been a beer lover but IPAs and Stouts are the big ones out here. BUT there are tons of places that make other great ones. Lastly, the main thing I have adopted since living here is appreciating the outdoors. There is so much beauty in the area that even the sun rises from the front porch is incredible. This area is growing quickly, but the beauty of the outdoors will always be its main charm.
