It’s pretty easy to understand why every family stationed at Elmendorf-Richardson here LOVES it. Alaska has it all, whether you’re a foodie at heart or can’t get enough of the outdoors. The surrounding breathtaking views will make you question why you ever lived anywhere else. Alaska will inspire you to become a “YES” person at heart. You don’t say “NO” to a hike because it’s a little colder than normal. You throw on an extra layer and pack a second pair of wool socks. You don’t think “NO” to a day outside because you want to binge watch the newest Netflix series. You get out and enjoy every moment of the warm sun on your face and glacier breeze running through your hair! Every day you learn to push yourself more than you ever expected and fall deeper in love with Alaska for it.
Things to know about Elmendorf-Richardson
Moving to Alaska has motivated me to work harder, love stronger, climb higher, listen better and get outside every single day. The long winters and short summers have challenged me in many ways, but the seafood, culture, friendships and great outdoors are totally worth it!

I’ve adopted eating pizza probably twice a week (almost every single place here has amazing pizza), drinking beer a little bit more than wine (with all the breweries you basically have to), and balancing it all out with a crazy active lifestyle! EX: hikes on hikes on hikes

I’ve been a WAF for just over 4 years! We grew up in Pennsylvania, but my husband Zach, our daughter Eliza, and I have called Florida and Alaska home during that time- quite the climate change! We love to explore this gorgeous state, and I would be lying if I said eating my way around Anchorage isn’t my favorite hobby! I am an ER nurse turned stay-at-home mom- catch me scoping out all of the cool kid spots and coffee shops in the greater Anchorage area during all of my free time!
