Welcome to Middle Georgia! Robins AFB is located in Warner Robins, GA. You will get the small town feel around here; living here is a true Southern experience. They like to say that every day here is Military Appreciation Day! The Southern hospitality and charm is like no other and the people are the sweetest. But don’t worry, there’s still a lot to do within a 30 mile radius of the base, and Atlanta isn’t too far away which is great for a day trip or picking relatives up from the airport. A girl can survive as long as there is TJ Maxx, Target and Starbucks right? No fear, we have those!

Within a few hours from here you can get to the mountains or the beach so it is very centrally located. The summers are hot and humid but the winters don’t get too cold so don’t worry about driving in the snow. The biggest adjustment for me has been that some places are closed on Sundays so don’t forget that!

Every base has its pros and cons but this area keeps growing which means there’s usually always something new to check out and do!

Things to know about Robins Air Force Base

I’ve learned to wave hello at everyone you see when you are driving or walking! I’m telling you the Southern Hospitality is REAL here. I still don’t like sweet tea or collard greens, but I have given fried chicken, pimento cheese and chicken salad a few more tries than I thought I would.  Oh and monogramming EVERYTHING, that can quickly become an obsession.

Wendy

Like my dear friend Wendy, I’ve learned to appreciate the friendliness of everyone here. We’re both from California and it took us a minute to get used to waving to everyone you see! I now find that  “yes ma’am”, “no sir”, “bless your heart”, and “you might could” are part of my daily vocabulary. You won’t catch me passing up on cheese straws or pimento cheese, although sweet tea is something I’ll never quite get accustomed to. The slow pace of life here and learning to strike random conversations in shops is something I’ve come to relish about living here. As all assignments go, it’s truly what you make of it, but we’ve had the best time here and I hope you will too! Oh, and keep lavender oil on hand for bug bites. I promise you’ll thank me from April-November!
