This sweet little town embodies southern hospitality and military pride! I mean where else can you see the Airman’s Creed on the wall of the grocery store?! Like any military base, the people make it what it is. The locals seem to love the military and that makes a huge difference. Seymour Johnson is perfectly situated an hour and a half from beautiful beaches and a few hours from the mountains, so there’s something for everyone!

Things to know about Seymour Johnson Air Force Base

Moving from the Midwest to the south was a big culture change…they have a different vocabulary down here sometimes 🙂 With that said, with a little adventuring, we felt spoiled we were driving distance to so much; amazing beaches, the mountains in Asheville and a TON of amazing food and craft beers!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I moved from Ohio to North Carolina, but I absolutely love the culture here. Life is slower and people are genuinely nicer. It was a struggle to move away from my family and friends for the first time, but I learned that if I reach out to my fellow WAFs / GAFs, I can find some truly wonderful people.
