FEDVIP — that’s the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program — Open Season is coming up, Monday, November 14th – Midnight Monday, December 12th ET, and this is your chance to get enrolled if you’re currently not!

What is “open enrollment”?

FEDVIP Open Season is the one time a year when active-duty military families can add or update their vision insurance coverage. It’s offered annually, usually from the second Monday of November through the second Monday of December, and if you miss it, you go without until 2024 — unless you have a qualifying life event like getting married, having a baby, or retiring from service.

How do I sign-up for supplemental health insurance?

You can start by using Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP Vision’s easy online tool to determine the type of coverage that best fits your needs minus the hefty price tag: askblue.bcbsfepvision.comTheir plans start as low as $12 / month! Or visit BENEFEDS.com to learn more and sign up!

What will it cost me?

It depends on which vision provider you choose. With Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP Vision there is a “high option” and a “low option” available, and benefits + rates vary between those two. You can see a breakdown of those benefits and the rates for 2023 HERE.

What is the deadline to sign-up?

Again. You can only enroll in supplemental vision insurance during FEDVIP Open Season, Monday, November 14th – Midnight ET Monday, December 12th . So, do the research now in preparation for this short window because we don’t want your military family to miss out!
